A Michelin-Starred Tokyo Wagyu House Debuts in Miami
KARYU brought a counter-only tasting menu built around prized Tajima wagyu to the Miami Design District.

Miami's luxury dining scene added a rarefied new address. KARYU, an offshoot of the Michelin-starred Tokyo restaurant Oniku Karyu, opened in the Miami Design District with an intimate, counter-only format built around a progression of Japanese wagyu.
The tasting menu is designed as a slow build, moving from delicate broths and a katsu sandwich toward a tableside sukiyaki finale centered on prized Tajima-strain beef. With only a handful of seats, the restaurant leans into exclusivity — a fitting match for a neighborhood better known for flagship fashion boutiques than for quiet, chef-driven counters.
Design District goes gourmet
KARYU's arrival underscored how the Design District has evolved into one of Miami's most ambitious restaurant corridors, drawing international operators alongside its galleries and luxury retail. It also fit a wider 2026 pattern in the city: smaller, high-touch concepts betting that Miami diners will pay for craftsmanship and scarcity rather than scene alone.
