Orlando International Hits a Passenger Record and Wins Top Airport Honors

Orlando International Airport is busier than it has ever been. The airport handled about 57.7 million passengers in 2025 — roughly 13% above its pre-pandemic 2019 total — cementing its place among the nation's largest gateways and the primary front door for Central Florida's theme parks.

The momentum was matched by recognition. Orlando International was named the overall winner at the Routes Americas 2026 awards, a first for the airport, honoring its work attracting new air service. Over the prior year MCO added dozens of new or expanded routes, including transatlantic service to Paris, Munich, and Madrid and new links to Lima and other markets. The airport now offers more than 170 nonstop destinations across dozens of countries.

Room to grow

The expansion has been anchored by Terminal C, the airport's newer terminal built to absorb rising international and domestic demand. For visitors, the practical result is more direct flights and shorter connections to Orlando's attractions — and, increasingly, to the state's beaches and cruise ports.
